PETER THE ARTIST
Peter Loeber was raised into a renaissance of animation that inspired him to create his own world of imagination. This early passion for art developed into his teen years, where he went on to master the craft of charcoal portraits. Eventually the ‘fast times’ of his 20s caught up, and he felt more alive when playing rock n roll. Though it wasn’t a fruitful era as an artist, Peter learned how to write + record music. Lost with how to apply these talents, he worked in accounting for survival. After work, he would unwind to episodes of the Bob Ross show, ‘the Joy of Painting.’ The ‘wet on wet’ technique became so engraved in Peter’s mind that he went on to paint his own visionary landscapes. In addition, he went out to capture the splendor of America with, ‘en plein air.’ The goal of all this painting was to develop a level of grace for his life’s work ahead..
As of 2025, Peter has started a 46 piece collection that is based on his time in the Adirondacks. This rugged region of upstate New York, is a vivid destination for advanced hikers. Many of them attempt to summit all 46 High Peaks to become a ‘46R’. It was only after summiting his 2nd High Peak, that Peter felt compelled to take on this physical challenge. The objective for him however, was to create a GRAND MAGNUM OPUS! These 46 paintings will be based on his photos, or memories through extreme weather conditions. Each piece will also have an accompanying statement to explain the majesty of each perspective.
Peter has also developed a 150 piece storyboard to illustrate his time on the hidden farms of Northern California. In the summer of 2010, he had a tragic fallout where he lost his job, friendships, and chance to go back to school that fall. To get back on his feet, he took a risk by joining a group of travellers. They worked on farms that had some of the most vivid landscapes that one can imagine. Camping for 2 months was suspenseful at times, but the experience left a huge impact on Peter’s heart. Destined to be his life’s work, this series will also have purpose as an historic depiction of what harvest seasons were like in this enchanted realm.
With what lies ahead, Peter is no longer accepting commissions. Though his life’s work could be illustrated more efficiently through a tablet, the physical presence of a grand collection is to bring communities together. Especially those who went through similar sacrifices. Each series will eventually expand into books, documentaries, and touring exhibitions. The end goal for Peter is that each collection becomes a permanent gallery in the respective regions of upstate NY, and Humboldt County CA.
